Bollywood Music Videos

While waiting for our dinner the other night, I became fascinated with all the Indian videos they were playing on the television in the waiting area. The production level, colors, dance moves and crazy ideas abounded. I’ve tried google and Youtube to find my favorite one, but no luck. I did enjoy the below one though. I discovered, after some research, that SRK is a pretty big deal and that this was a long-form music video based on the character and plot-line from the feature film Don 2.

It’s Worth the Money

While on vacation, my toenail polish chipped so I decided to buy some new polish. I’d really hate spending the week in sandals with one busted-looking toe. Vanity, I know.

Instead of just grabbing a cheap color, I bought some by Essie. I’ve read some good stuff on Pinterest about this brand and wanted to test it out on pools and beach sand to see if it really is worth the money.

At any rate, the Essie ‘Smokin’ Hot’ (dark grey) has really stood up to the elements here, even without a topcoat. It’s still shiny and hasn’t chipped. I really like it, but will probably only buy classic colors. Buying crazy/bright colors will still be reserved for Wet n’ Wild.

Pre-K Parents Are Away

Trying to explain to Ruby (almost 3) that Wes and I were going to be gone for a while seemed to be difficult for her to understand.

We are returning from our vacation to Hawaii on Easter Sunday, so instead of leaving an Easter Basket for her, I put her gifts in a white gift bag. Then, I drew a calendar on the bag and attached a sharpie so that she could mark off each day we were away. That way, she will be excited to open her present AND she might even be excited for us to come back.

A dear friend of mine, Julie, had a baby on March 15. He is so sweet and tiny. I try to get over to get in some snuggles whenever I can. Ruby is also pretty interested in Arie and I love this photo of Ruby, Arie, Julie (mom) and Jackson (Arie’s big bro).

Planting Flowers

Finding the Light

To say that this year has been wonderful would be an understatement, but there have also been some really difficult things that both people we love and we ourselves have had to deal with. I’ve had some great friends to walk through this with and some great conversations about Jesus’ role in our lives through the tough things. Here are a few things I could write a novel on, but will just share briefly instead.

Jesus has really sustained us through this time. I’ve really come to terms (for now anyway) that I cannot fix things and do everything on my own and how much I need him in my life.

When the world seems overcome in darkness, I turn to the light. The happy things. This life is truly wonderful gift but sometimes it takes effort to remember that. I am so grateful for all I have. I am incredibly blessed.

Finding joy, working through sorrow and shaking it out! This song has meant a lot to me lately. Perhaps if you need encouragement, it will encourage you as well.

Did You Do That for Me, Mommy?

The other day, Ruby and I pulled up to the house and the tree in our front yard has finally bloomed with spring blossoms, as I had told her it would.

She said, “It’s so beautiful! Did you do that for me, Mommy?” It was one of the sweetest things to me, her thinking that I could do that for her. And if I could, I would!

I told her that God made it and talked to her some about spring. I just wanted to put this moment out there because I don’t want to forget it.

First Movie Quote

It finally happened. I’ve confirmed that my movie quoting gene was passed on. After putting on Ruby’s PJ’s last night, Ruby looked up at me, popped out her little hip and said, “Uh oh!” and then started to laugh.

We’ve been watching “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” lately (she calls it Steve the Monkey, btw). She was imitating the Baby Brent character, voiced by Andy Samburg. I couldn’t be more proud.
